MAISIE (22-039) is a petite 2 ½ year old, 50 lb Golden mix. When Maisie came into the rescue she was pregnant and had been a stray for some time so she was very fearful. She soon gave birth and was a good mother to her pups, and slowly she started to trust her foster family. Now she has learned to live in a house where she gets love, food, and has a warm soft spot to lay her head. Maisie is housebroken and has free reign. She enjoys the attention of her 4-legged foster brother and would do well as an only dog or with another male dog in the home. She has had some difficulty acclimating to female dogs. An ideal home for Maisie would be with a family who has experience with dogs and plenty of time to dedicate to gently and consistently helping her to gain confidence. We do not
know how she is around cats. Since Maisie can still be shy around new people, we suggest a home with older or no kids. Maisie enjoys her outside time; playing fetch, wrestling, and playing with her foster brother, but also enjoys all the cuddles, love and belly rubs she can get. She does not chew things that don’t belong to her but will pull the stuffing out of soft toys. We have worked with an animal behaviorist and have some great tips to help Maisie gain confidence and reach her full potential. Maisie would do best with someone home most of the time but has done well by herself for up to 6 hours. She continues to work on leash training so a fenced yard would be ideal. When she finds her Forever Home, she will probably go through a longer transition time than most Goldens, but once you have gained her trust, she will return that by loving you with ALL of her Golden heart!
