BANNER (25-020) is a very handsome 10 month old boy who loves chasing squirrels and bird watching in his fenced backyard. However, his favorite activity is tussling with his 9-year-old foster brother. Banner has the energy level of a puppy but settles down quickly when playtime is over. He loves to play fetch and take meandering walks through the neighborhood. Banner is using a no-pull harness to help slow him down on walks. He loves to cuddle with his humans on the sofa and bed. Banner sleeps by the side of the bed, on the bed, or on the tiled bathroom floor. He’s very quiet and sleeps through the night until his human gets up. Banner has free range of the house and is totally housebroken when we are home, however, he is crated when we’re gone because he still takes items that don’t belong to him, and he is a champion counter-surfer. Since he is still in his crating phase, his new family will need to be gone no more than 4 hours at a time during the day. Someone that is at home regularly during the day would be ideal. Banner loves people and greets new friends very enthusiastically. He loves being petted and brushed. Banner knows basic commands; come, sit, off, no, drop it, and he is a very fast learner and very clever.

He is still a puppy and does like to “steal” shoes and socks and paper products off the kitchen counter. We are careful to keep these items away from his reach while he is learning not to take things that are not his toys. Since he’s still very playful and a little mouthy, any kids in his new home need to be old enough to withstand him jumping around and to understand how to properly interact with a dog, especially one that’s still learning. Although he would love to have another playful dog companion, we think he would do well as an only dog too, as long as he gets lots of energetic activity and opportunities to socialize with other dogs. Banner is practically perfect, except for his puppy behaviors which he should outgrow with time and training. He would love a good home willing to continue his training and provide the active environment that a big puppy requires.
