Available Dogs arrow BENTLEY (26-005)

BENTLEY (26-005) is the sweetest teenage boy, turning 2 in April. He will probably always look like a puppy because of the keen look on his face. Bentley is a tall slender boy, weighing 68 pounds at his last vet appointment. He hasn’t jumped up on the counter, but he’s tall enough that we’ve learned to keep things away from the edge. Nothing much has phased this curious canine; he just wants to play and be with people. He is a bit rough on toys and has “loved” the stuffings out of many of them. Tug ‘o’ War is one of his favorite games. Bentley seems to be well housebroken and will begin to pace if he needs to go out. He sits well on command, takes treats very gently, and does not try to push out of the front door when not on a leash. We are working on other commands, and this smart boy is starting to pick them up.

He is currently gated in the laundry room when we are gone from home and overnight to sleep, but he may soon graduate to free-in-the-home with a little more training and maturity. He tends to pull on the leash, but a training halter works wonders. Bentley has ridden well in the car. He has spent quite a bit of time with our two smaller dogs and is curious about the horses without trying to go after them. He likes to watch the deer that graze near our house and will sit in the backyard by the fence to do so without barking at them. However, if given the opportunity he would no doubt want to run with them. With his long legs and need to play, he will need a safely fenced yard. Cats are an unknown, but we suspect he would try to play with them, no doubt to their chagrin. He loves everyone and has gotten along with our grandchildren. He might be a bit energetic for younger children. If you are looking for a boy with an indomitable spirit who will also be a loving companion, Bentley is the Golden for you.
