Available Dogs DOLLY (25-047)

DOLLY (25-047) is a lean 60lb 2 year old bundle of energy. She is very athletic and loves to be outside. A large fenced in yard is ideal so she can spend time outside exploring her yard and stretching her legs. Playing fetch is her favorite thing and she looks forward to it multiple times a day. Her ball is her favorite toy. Her high energy level is on display when she runs and plays outside, but once inside she settles down nicely and just wants to be around her people or lay down and play with her toys. She likes to sleep near her humans whether in the bed or on the floor next to it. She is more timid around men than women, and if they are wearing a hat or sunglasses she might let out a bark or two, but after slow introductions, she becomes their friend. She is completely house broken and is very good at a handful of commands. She is free in the home when her human is away. She enjoys laying on the couch and being able to look out the window. She can be anxious and nervous in new surroundings, so continuing to socialize her is very important.

She enjoys playing with her 9 year old foster sister, so a home with another friendly, playful, confident dog would be a good thing. She does not get car sick, and loads up on her own, but she’s always very excited to go somewhere so getting her to stay calm and sit while riding is something we’re working on. She does fine home alone for a stretch of time, but nothing makes her happier than when her humans get home and she greets them with a toy and bundle of excitement. She does well walking on a leash while wearing a harness. She previously lived with a cat and was around kids. The ideal home for Dolly has a large fenced in yard with plenty of room for her to run, another dog to play with and help her build confidence, and a schedule that allows for daily play time outside and continuing her socialization and training.
