GWYNNIE (26-027) is a petite, 55 pound, 1 year old bundle of love and energy. She is house trained and free to roam when humans are away, given that the house is “puppy proofed” and there aren’t many temptations lying around like socks or dish towels. Picking up, moving things out of reach, and closing doors is an easy fix to this behavior. She loves being involved in every second of her human’s lives and will follow from room to room, sticking her nose into whatever is going on. She wants all the attention, and is a true velcro dog. She will climb right on top of her human, decide to sit in their lap and cover their face in kisses waiting for a hug. When seeking attention, she may nudge her humans, try a soft bark or whine, or a gentle nip or nibble. She would love to sleep in bed with her human and share the same pillow. She would do great as an only dog so she doesn’t need to compete for attention. She would also do well in a home with a similar aged/personality dog that enjoys rough housing and romping around and can be tolerant of sharing belongings.
Because of her puppy-like behavior, like mouthiness and enthusiastic energy, a house with young children is discouraged. Her favorite game is playing fetch with the chuck it ball, running as fast and hard as she can, so a large fenced yard is required. She likes to stalk and chase any small critters and her behavior with cats is unknown. Once indoors, she likes to chew bones, enjoy a stuffed kong, and rip stuffing out of squeaky toys. She gets in/out of the car easily but does not seem to enjoy car rides. She walks very well on a leash with her harness but can pull when excited by something. She loves to swim! Toss her ball in the pool and she won’t want to stop for hours. She is very reliable with a few basic training commands like sit and down. She needs help on other important training commands and general house manners. She loves to learn for treats! She is cautious when meeting strangers for the first few minutes, then wants to be best friends. Gwynnie’s behavior and personality is that of your typical 1 year old puppy and she would do best in a home that has a schedule allowing a lot of human interaction during the day, devoted training, and play time. She’s basically a clingy love bug full of energy!
