Available Dogs arrow MARLEY (26-024)

MARLEY (26-024) is a 77 lb, 5-year-old boy who is goofy, playful, incredibly sweet, and a serious cuddle bug. He loves being close to his people and will happily follow them from room to room. Personal space is not really part of Marley’s vocabulary; if allowed, he will climb right on top of his person, keep a paw or two on them, and happily cover their face in kisses. He is house trained and can be left alone for several hours as long as he has a mid-day walk or someone home during the day. He also knows sit, stay, lay down, paw, and leave it. He walks well on a leash however, a no-pull harness is required as he is still learning. Marley gets along with most other dogs and would likely do well with a tolerant canine sibling.

However, he tends to be a little clueless when meeting other dogs in public; it’s as if he has no boundaries and he tends to approach them very directly and with an overabundance of enthusiasm. He will need work on this so a training deposit will be required. Cats are unknown. He would do best in a home with older or adult children because of his mouthiness and enthusiastic play style, which includes jumping. Marley loves to play and is a fan of balls, Kongs, and a good game of fetch. Water, however, is not his thing. He has plenty of energy and would benefit from regular walks, playtime in a securely fenced yard, and continued training, particularly to strengthen his on leash behavior. Marley came into foster care in rough shape, with significant skin irritation and wounds from scratching, but he has healed very well and has been medically cleared by the vet following his neuter. He currently takes Apoquel and is eating a fish-based diet to keep his skin and coat healthy. Despite everything he has been through, Marley is incredibly gentle, affectionate, and happy. He seems to have just one setting: happy to be here.
