MOLLY (24-069)

MOLLY (24-069) is a 6 yr old, 70 lb, very friendly Velcro golden, who always wants to be with you. She is currently a couch potato but is on an exercise regimen to help her lose some weight. She loves having her tummy rubbed and puts herself under your hand to pet at every opportunity. Molly gets along well with her friendly foster siblings but does not do well with more assertive dogs. We do not know about cats. She is a little anxious and needs lots of reassurance, and she tends to want all the attention, so she would benefit from being an only dog or perhaps with one other dog that has a gentle personality. Molly is fully house trained; she sits and lies down on command. However, it seems like she was never really walked before; she tends to pull and she is sometimes startled by new sights and sounds, like large trucks. We’ve been using a no-pull harness and she’s doing better.
A patient dog parent, and perhaps a trainer, would help her with her leash manners and help her react calmly to new experiences. Molly is overweight and needs to slim down, so learning to walk well on a leash is important. She rides very well in the car. She is crate trained and has been left for a few hours at a time but she would prefer a family who is home more often. She is reported to be good with children although she does not live with any currently. Molly needs a fenced yard to be able to explore off-leash. She loves to play with stuffed animals, but more indestructible toys are better for her since destuffing stuffies is one of her favorite activities. She is a playful, loving dog worthy of a loving family and she needs lots of attention and love which she will return ten-fold.
