Available Dogs arrow ROSIE (25-017)

ROSIE (25-017) is a petite, 60-pound, energetic bundle of cuteness. Although 5 years old, she could pass for a puppy due to her size. Rosie is completely housebroken and will let you know when she needs to go out. Rosie loves to play fetch with her stuffed toys and balls and will bring them to you for playtime; and she loves playtime! She has very good house manners and has been given free run of our house. Although she currently lives with a very patient/mellow older Golden, Rosie is a princess with a prey drive so she needs to be an only pet. Ever alert to what’s going on around her, she will be sure to let you know if there are any squirrels on your deck/porch or if anyone is at your door. For her small size, she can be very strong, so she walks with a no-pull harness and does well with it on. She loves to go on long walks in the neighborhood and natural areas, but exhibits anxiety around more commercial areas.

Rosie is very friendly to all people, but needs slow and careful introduction to other dogs. Rosie has not been around children much and does have some idiosyncrasies, so she would be best with an adult only family or one with kids 16 and older. She can be startled with sudden noises which can cause her to jump, but she quickly settles. Thunder does not bother her. Rosie is anxious in the car but a harness and seatbelt keep her safe and settled on the back seat. Rosie recently had surgery to remove a benign cyst from the top of her head, so she has a noticeable scar, but that does not detract from her cuteness. Rosie knows many commands, does not get on furniture, and loves belly rubs. Since she loves to be near her people, she would do best in a home where someone is home for a good part of the day. If you work from home, she’ll be at your feet the whole time. If you are looking for a sweet pup who will think you’re the best person in the world, especially if you have treats; then Rosie is your girl. Rosie does get nervous in some situations, so as with any rescued dog, she needs a family who will be patient with her while she adjusts to her new life. Did I say she’s as cute as a button?!
