Available Dogs RUBY (25-031) 

RUBY (25-031) is an extremely confident, smart and sweet, 18-month old girl who loves to follow her people around with lots of excitement and curiosity. One of her favorite spots is on the couch so she can get pets and cuddles. Her habit is to get up early and play; she is full of energy and a large, fenced yard is a requirement for Miss Ruby. She loves to run, prance around and sniff and, unfortunately, chase cats, so no cats in her new home. She does like to chase after squirrels too and is still working on her leash manners, so she has been wearing a Freedom Harness and is doing much better. She did have an incident with a young child in her previous home, so we will be looking at families with people aged 14 and over. She gets along well with her Foster brothers and sisters but she has also had a couple of scuffles over toys. They were short-lived and she was easily redirected, but she will do best with an experienced dog-savvy handler. She is learning house manners and is reliable with certain commands such as sit, down and drop.

She is not destructive in the house, is completely house trained, and will go to the door to indicate that she wants to go out. Ruby is crate trained and very food motivated so continued training will make her into a wonderful companion. She does like to snoop around when she’s not being watched and sometimes puts things in her mouth that don’t belong there, but she does well with “drop” and will easily trade the item for a treat. She rides politely in the car and has been good with summer thunderstorms and neighborhood fireworks. Ruby will make a wonderful companion for the right person who is willing to continue working with her and giving her lots of pets and snuggles.
