Available Dogs SONNY (26-018)

SONNY (26-018) is a healthy 80lb, 3 year old boy. He is good natured, easy-going, loving, and the ultimate Velcro dog; where you go, he goes. Sonny is best suited for a family that is home a lot during the day and that will allow him to sleep in bed with his favorite person at night. He is able to climb stairs but, as with most dogs, having them carpeted is a bonus. Sonny walks well on a leash, even when there are distractions. Because of his sweet nature, Sonny loves every human and dog he meets, and he is great with kids. However, his size and enthusiasm, and tendency to be a little mouthy when excited, may be a bit much for a home with younger children. Cats are unknown but he enjoys playing with his 2 foster sisters and he loves to swim. If there is water nearby, Sonny is in it!

He also loves car rides but needs to be safely restrained in the back or he’ll try to get in the front. Like most Goldens, he likes to carry things in his mouth, especially stuffed animals. He is also a bit of a sock bandit and he’s still working on the “give” command, so his new home will need to be vigilant about keeping things picked up and put away. He also loves to have the ball thrown for him and he will occasionally bring it back so you can throw it again. Like most young Goldens, Sonny would benefit from consistent training. He is eager to learn and please so training with him should be relatively easy and fun. A fenced in yard, a couple of good walks a day and some play time with another dog his size is appropriate for his age and energy level. If you are ready for a true constant companion with a heart of gold, Sonny may be the perfect companion for you.
