AL (24-057) is a happy, healthy, handsome, curious golden, with the boisterous rambunctiousness and energy level of a 10-month-old puppy on permanent display. “Cute” is his superpower! Al gets along well with everyone and everything, although cats are an unknown. He is extremely high-energy, and will chase a ball, a squirrel, or a rabbit with equal gusto, so a fenced yard is important. He may be too energetic for a household with small children. Al loves meeting people and will take you on a brisk “walk” so he can meet the neighbors and their dogs. Unfortunately, he gets carsick, and does not do well on long drives, although we hope he may outgrow this. Al is finding his way around basic obedience commands.
He is extremely food-centric and his propensity to follow commands is directly proportionate to the treat being offered. He is crate-trained and likes to take naps there, but is also good with having free-run of the house. He is still working on licking, jumping, and dashing out of doors so training will be a requirement of his adoption. During a medical examination Al was discovered to have a heart murmur. His cardiologist said that he had a malformed heart valve, present from birth. He is not on any medications, but will need periodic cardiac evaluations, and a good diet.
