SPARKY (24-060) is a vibrant, healthy, and stunning 2-year-old, 72-pound golden retriever who brings joy and energy to any home. While he’s full of enthusiasm, he can also relax and settle down when he senses everyone around him is happy, especially in the evenings. True to his name, Sparky is a wonderfully lively companion who adores chew toys and thrives on attention. He’s incredibly friendly, loves being petted and brushed, and is always eager to please. With treats as motivation, Sparky is a fast learner, mastering commands like “sit,” “wait,” “lie down,” and “be gentle” (for taking treats). Though his excitement can be high when greeting you after time apart, he’s quickly learning to settle and focus on commands. Sparky does have an issue with stealing and guarding contraband if he finds something he really wants, but after a few false starts, we’ve found that trading the item for treats and lavishly praising him for doing so is working wonders.

Since Sparky is still young and didn’t have the best background with learning commands, professional training to get him and his new family off to the right start is essential. Sparky is fully house-trained and is learning to walk well on a harness, making outdoor adventures enjoyable. He also loves running around in a fenced backyard, especially with our 10-year-old golden, though he does enjoy being the center of attention. He gets along with cats, although his playful nature might lead to a chase if they make any sudden moves. At night, Sparky is content sleeping in a crate, and, while he currently enjoys being on our furniture, he can easily adjust if needed. Sparky has come a long way learning “leave it” and trading contraband for treats, so to continue his progress, we’ll be looking for an adult-only home or one with kids teen age or older. This wonderful golden will bring endless fun, love, and loyalty to his forever home!
